City advises of water supply disruption to the Khayelitsha area

The City’s Water and Sanitation Department is planning to shut down the water supply to the Khayelitsha area from 10:00 until 16:00 on Tuesday, 26 April 2022. This work will allow for the replacement of the faulty 800mm diameter water meter insert in the vicinity of Mew Way and Old Faure Road. This work will result in the disruption of the water to Khayelitsha.

This water meter replacement forms part of the Bulk Water infrastructure maintenance programme to ensure continued water supply and also to reduce unaccounted for water. 
 
Careful consideration has been given to the planning of this work to ensure minimal disruption to the water supply in the affected areas.

Most residents will have access to water during this period, but at reduced pressure. Water tankers will roam through the few areas with no water supply.

Residents are kindly requested to store water upfront in clean sealed containers for domestic consumption during this period
 
The City regrets any inconvenience caused, however, this operation will ensure future continuity of water supply to consumers.
